Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement presented during the booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, applicable charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle in Swansea requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Swansea, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will need to provide valid payment details and a security deposit, as well as meet any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Swansea office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The complete payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All rates are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
4. Collecting and Returning Vehicles
- At the time of collection, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign to acknowledge the state of the vehicle. It is expected that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was when collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when it was collected; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability, so reviewing these is beneficial. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless extra insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Usage
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- Prohibited activities include the use of the vehicle for illegal purposes, such as racing or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is not permitted. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, exceeding passenger or weight limits and driving outside designated geographical areas without prior approval is not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Swansea will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims related to death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
